Editorial policy
Our pages explain money decisions, so they need to be accurate, dated and easy to check. Here is how we write and maintain them.
Who writes and checks
- Written and checked by
- RandLeaf editorial team, as an organisation. We don’t name an individual expert reviewer, and we don’t present any page as legal advice.
- What a check covers
- Facts and figures against the sources listed on the page, consistency with our published pricing, and plain language
Guides and help pages show who wrote them and when they were last checked.
Sources
We use official sources first: legislation and regulations on gov.za, the National Credit Regulator, the Information Regulator and the South African Reserve Bank. Where we rely on another source, we name it and link to it. We don’t cite sources we haven’t read.
How prices stay consistent
Every price on this site, from the home page to the guides, is generated from one public pricing file (version RL-PRICE-2026-10) using the same calculation as the calculator. When prices change, the file changes, every example is recalculated, and the pricing version and review date change with it. That way a page can’t show an old fee next to a new one.
How often we review
| Content | When we review it |
|---|---|
| Prices, calculator and examples | Every time pricing changes, and before every release |
| RandLeaf Roots pages and rules | Every time the programme rules change |
| Contact details and help pages | Monthly |
| Guides | Quarterly |
We only change a page’s date when we have actually checked or changed its content.
Our commercial relationship
Until RandLeaf opens its own applications, the Apply online buttons are paid partner links, and RandLeaf may be paid when someone applies through them. We keep that separate from what we write:
- Guides and help articles carry no application buttons
- Our pricing examples always show RandLeaf’s own published prices, never a partner’s
- Pages about repayment difficulties, complaints, scams and declined applications never carry a partner link
- Every partner button sits next to a note saying it is a paid partner link
What we don’t do
- Publish paid placements, advertorials or sponsored articles
- Publish reviews, ratings or statistics we can’t prove
- Use photos of people presented as our customers or staff
The images on this site are original illustrations made for our brand.
